This did not take long, after which Sultan Bahu returned to his own, familiar surroundings. Traditionally according to the law of the land he is Hashimi and belongs to the tribe of A'wan. After the incident of Karbala, the household of Muhammad had to migrate to other lands. After sometime he reached a village on the banks of the Ravi where he met the saint, Hazrat Habibullah Qadiri and became his disciple.
Hazrat Sultan Bahu made very rapid spiritual progress and noticing his accomplishment his guide said to him one day: The spiritual wealth you seek is not with me, but you will be able to attain it at the hands of my Murshid, Hazrat Abdurahman Qadiri. Thus, Hazrat Sultan Bahu presented himself to this great master in Delhi, whose lineage went back to the great sufi saint of Baghdad, Hazrat Abdul Qadir Jilani [].

He may be considered one of the greatest Revealers in the history of Sufism. His dargah has always been supervised by the Sajjadah Nashins of his own family. The present Sajjadah Nashin also belongs to his line. It is strange that his fame rose and spread world-wide after his death. Only recently Scholars have turned attention to present and interpret his doctrine in a systematic way.
The scope to edit, translate, interpret and transmit his work is still very vast. It is hoped that the next generation of sufi scholars and teachers will continue to perform this tremendous job more efficiently.
