Rajinikanth biography by gayathri ramamurthy
Still he is maintaining his simplicity. Man of simplicity. Ravi Yellayi. Anirudh Mannattil. You have to be a Rajnikanth fan to go past first 50 pages. It is also an insight into the vast idol-worshiping rajinikanth biography by gayathri ramamurthy masses, who go crazy over their favorite actors at a times affecting on how they vote, live and die.
Somebody like me, who has never seen a Rajnikanth movie in their entire life, this was really an eye-opener. It took me all pages to understand the man, the stylized actor, the typical wasted person in film industry and somebody who is at loss with his success. Pallavi Singh. Simplicity stood out for me : simply written for a seemingly simple man Once again a rags to riches story I am a Rajani fan loved knowing more about him Could see his mannerisms as described flying out I loved it!
Thiruvengadam Ashok. A wonderful biography of a simple man. All in all - a great read and well worth the cover price - since its brought me a new lease of life for Tamil Films as a genre and Rajini as a specific segment within that genre. Looking forward to his next release! What was expected was an insight about the man What we have is a roster of his filmography and the synopsis of each film told chronologically with very few anecdotes, interviews or insights or what The Thalaiva was thinking about the role or that particular time.
Only a person who has watched the Tamil films of his will enjoy the book by revisiting the synopsis of each movie. It's stretched with information of his directors, writers and co-stars - about their backgrounds and from where they came from. It's a definitive biography in the sense of detail and information but not in its narrative sense See more reviews.
Top reviews from other countries. If you want a filmography of Rajnikanththis is the book to read. Very well written and keeps you engaged. Gives you the life history of Rajnikanth through his movies. Nothing that is not known publicly but presented beautifully. Althought most of what's written is common knowledge there are few interesting bit that I didn't know about Rajnikanth.
Very gripping book and very well written. The only downside is that it empahisis too much on the recent movies and relatively less so on the 70s. Overall a very good book and a collectors item for all fans. Good if you know very little about superstar. Not so much, if you are a long-time fan like me. If the movie descriptions are removed, whats left is superstars speeches, now available on YouTube, and some rare interviews from people associated with him.
I expected a definitive biography. Great simple read about Rajini and his movies. Some insight into his roles and the workings of the Indian cinema industry and indian politics. But one feels that this has barely scratched the surface of who Rajini is. Great read Very interesting No sycophancy One can love Rajinikanth as millions do, one can hate him, as his detractors do, but the fact also remains no one can ignore him.
None can shrug away his presence unless he or she is extremely insensitive to the film world. It also does not shy away from underlining the two extremes that have remained an intrinsic part of his highly eventful career: the human and the divine.
